Our Diggers in the Stan

Greetings

Well Afghanistan has been on my mind this week with me creating a tribute wallpaper addressing the recent "carry on" in the media concerning Australian soldiers operating here and their 'treatment' in handling enemy detainees.

As I'd finished it, I heard the news of an ambush over there which resulted in nine Special Forces Soldiers being wounded.

The Australia Army advises this is the MOST wounded in a single action SINCE the Vietnam War!

Today I'm pleased to say, ALL wounded are stable and at least five will not need to RTA (Return to Australia).

I behooves me then to ask everyone to remember ALL the service personal in 'harms way' and let's hope they can finish the job and get home soon.

And let's stick it up the bleeding hearts 'armchair commando's' who are far TOO quick to criticize our military.

1st post so please be gentle!

G'day to MY blog!

I'm 'Shel' A.K.A Mountain or 'Uncle Mountain' about thousand years ago in another life.

I've created this in an effort to share some of the things that I think about - have an interest in & things I get up to and simply discover.

The net is my playground now and I do spend a fair bit of time roaming, around with re securing my interests of which there are many.

Just recently it was Long Tan Remembrance Day 18th Aug - A major battle in 1966 in the Vietnam war that resulted in a 108 diggers a rifle company (Delta 6 - D Company 6 RAR) fighting off mass assaults of an estimated mixed force of V.C-NVA (Viet Cong - North Vietnamese Army) of a divisional strength of over 1500 men.

Anyhow I created these tribute wallpapers which I posted to the Usenet Newsgroups that I "troll", or stick them on my "WebShots" community page.

I'm pleased to say they went down a treat, according to feedback I got, that's one of my passions - Wallpaper Creation.

More later
