American Civil War
I’ve become for years now a little bit of a buff on this time in history ever since back in 2002 I visited Gettysburg in the USA.
Particularly have a sense of sympathy for the Confederate cause and greatly admire the leadership of General Robert Edward Lee.
“Bobbie Lee” I believe was a mixture of a gentle god fearing Christian and a canny military commander that history may not have fully appreciated given his defeat at the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.
I kind of identify the theme of a brotherhood formed in war and of my country’s conflict in the first world war & Gallpoli, where the ANZAC legend was formed – It strikes a deep chord of the waste of war but the reasons that never the less men DO answer the call.
My all time favorite movies of this period ARE “Gettysburg” and "Gods and Generals” (which is a pre-sequel) and I highly recommend them to anyone who wishes to get a sense of this era.

Also concerning these films, they are based on the books by Jeff Shaara and the final of his books” The Last Full Measure” set in the time line after “Gettysburg” (1863) till the “Johnny Reb’s” (Confederate Army) surrendered (1865), is due to be made into a movie, but I’m not certain when this will EVER occur!

I was the only one in my junior class who actually like the book Killer Angels. I thought it was amazing. I haven’t seen Gettysburg though. I got to give it a try.
